Independent Living Program

Giving Youth a Place to Call Home

Young adults (ages 18-24) who age out of the foster care system are especially vulnerable to homelessness. The estimated numbers of young adults who experience an episode of homelessness each year range from approximately 750,000 to 2 million. Youth aging out of the foster care system are vulnerable in the existing adult-oriented service system primarily because of their inexperience. These young adults do not become familiar with available resources until they experience a significant health or criminal justice issue.

Make A Difference

Be the Change

Reaching Clarity Foundation

Become a Mentor or Sponsor

Foster youth long to have a loving, stable support system they can depend on and call their own. Youth aging out of foster care is in great need of guidance and support. It is important to remember that most of these young people have had inadequate role models and minimal help in learning how to navigate complex systems such as health care, post secondary education, and financial literacy. Youth that aged out of foster care with a mentor or sponsor are less likely to experience homeless and incarceration and more likely to become educated, healthy adults. Be the change! Becoming a mentor or sponsor for a vulnerable teen is a great way to make the difference of a lifetime. For more information on how you can become a mentor or sponsor, please contact us at volunteers@reachingclarity.com.

Food Pantry Program

No One Should Go Hungry

Reaching Clarity's goal is to alleviate hunger in Metropolitan Atlanta by soliciting, collecting, and packaging food for distribution through a network of service agencies and programs that serve our target population groups. Our services include the food box program, Thanksgiving food drive and food basket giveaway, emergency food program, advocacy, and community involvement programs that provides opportunities for self-sufficiency activities for "at risk" youth and vulnerable familes.
